    Youth Skills Day- 2023 Organized by: Viva City Club


    Metas Adventist College, Surat celebrated World Youth Skills Day on its premises on 21st July,2023. On this occasion, various programmes such as public speaking and communication skills, Texture Art, Makeup and Bhangra (Dance) were organised. More than 370 students from Management and Commerce department of the college participated in this competition.

    Workshop- 1


    Public Speaking Skill- “Communicate to Lead”
    Venue: College conference hall
    Date: 21. 07.2023
    Time : 10 Am to 12 Noon


    While good public speaking skills can open doors, poor ones can close them. The good news is that speaking in public is a learnable skill! Becoming an effective presenter and public speaker is about understanding your audience, preparing your content, delivering confidently, and controlling the environment. To enhance the skill of Public speaking Viva city club of Metas Adventist college organised one day workshop for the students of Metas Adventist college, Surat. Total 96 students registered for the workshop.

    CA Pooja Maloo, Founder: ThoughtSmiths conducted the workshop on Public Speaking Skill- “Communicate to Lead” Participants spend their day understanding the essentials of public speaking and in doing so they learnt the underlying challenges, how to overcome these challenges and present statements and presentations in a confident and concise manner. Moreover, with the help of simulation exercises, CA Pooja Maloo further emphasized the importance of tone of voice and position and how to further refine presentations.

    Workshop -2
     

    Texture Art
    Venue: Nursing Department Hall
    Date: 21.07.2023
    Time: 10 AM TO 12:00 NOON


    It was a beginner friendly workshop where students learned about how to handle and apply the texture paste, use the right tools to explore new and innovative ideas to use texture paste in paintings, preserve the artwork and create their own unique texture art master piece. In this workshop the participants learned how to use the right proportions of grout and water to create an accurate consistency. Participants explored how this texture is used to give the illusion of depth. This artwork is similar to that of sculpting and which allowed participants to express uniqueness of their artwork.

    Total 108 students attended the workshop and they were happy by learning the new skill of Art.

    Workshop-3


    Workshop- Makeup Skills


    Venue: MBA Room
    Date: 21.07.2023
    Time: 10 AM TO 12:00 NOON

    With a good makeup Brush, every woman can be an Artist.
    The workshop witnessed the participation of student’s full zeal and enthusiasm. During the workshop, Ms. Nishi (Makeup Artist) highlighted the various techniques of basic makeup and also shed light on different techniques used in makeup for different skin textures. After the workshop, an interactive session was also conducted in which students asked various questions to the resource person to which the resource person responded very clearly and satisfied the curiosity of the students.

    After completion of the workshop Student were able to Identify the milestones of beauty and wellness and will apply this knowledge, along with current trends.

    Workshop-4


    Workshop- Bhangra
    Venue: Student Center
    Date: 21.07.2023
    Time: 10 AM TO 12:00 NOON

    Bhangra is a type of traditional folk dance of Punjab, originating in the Sialkot area of Punjab, Pakistan. It is done in the season of harvesting.
    The workshop was conducted for the students of Management and Commerce to showcase, hone and perfect their dancing skill. The main objective of the workshop was to introduce and provide a platform for the students to learn something new which was outside of academics. The workshop was conducted by Ms. Aashika Chopra and Ms.Palak Modha along with 2 other artists from there dance group.
    Total 154 Students participated in the workshop.
    The event was an overall success as the participants had fun and a refreshing time learning different moves.
