Resource person- Dr Gaurang Rami- Professor Department of economic VNSGU Surat.
Dr Gaurang Rami is a distinguished professor of economics having twenty years of teaching and research experience. He has authored thirteen books and published research papers in several national and international scholarly journals. He also served as visiting professor in Philippines and Georgia. Dr Rami specializes in Econometrics and research methodology.
Description of webinar
The program began with welcome and introduction of speaker and was attended by 27 faculty of commerce. Management and nursing departments. Principal and CEO Dr Srikakolii Eliah, Head of department Dr Mohan Rao, associate vice president for academic affairs MrSyam Prasad and the placement in charge and assistant vice president Mr Khirod Dalpati were also present on the occasion.

The choice of the topic of the research paper and how to select an appropriate topic using four techniques- brainstorming, free writing, clustering and drafts was clearly explained.
The speaker then touched on abstract writing guidelines and how to select the key words for the abstract, the use of Inflibnet and other e resources was advocated in this regard.
The speaker explained the use of APA style of bibliography writing and how have inside and outside citations in the research papers. UGC approved journals which are scholarly in nature can be selected for publications as given in the UGC CARE list.
The speaker then explained on plagiarism and the concept of self -plagiarism where authors recycle their own publications to republish were nice explained. The ethical aspects and punishments for adopting plagiarism was also elaborated. Soft wares which can easily detect plagiarism and free software available for use was advocated.
The last topic discussed was the concept of predatory journals, how to identify and avoid predatory and misleading journals. Examples were given for identification and to find the scope of these Journals which are unethical in nature.
The question answer session was conducted were faculty members asked questions related to the topic and cleared their doubts.
The engrossing and intellectual session concluded with vote of thanks and the informative and engrossing session was enjoyed by all faculty members and gave an opportunity for all to enhance their skills in publishing.
